Review - Operation Prom Date by: Cindi Madsen

Kate ships tons of fictional couples, but IRL her OTP is her and Mick, the hot quarterback she’s crushed on since, like, forever. With only one semester left of senior year, it’s now or never if she wants to land him in time for prom. Since she’s flirtationally challenged, she enlists Cooper Callihan, the guy who turned popular seemingly overnight but who used to be a good friend.

Cooper lives and breathes rowing, but his partner just broke his wrist. When he remembers Kate’s good with a set of oars, he strikes a deal: help him train, and he’ll make sure her crush notices her. Only he didn’t know how addicting spending time with her would be. Or how the more successful the Operation is, the more jealousy he experiences.

The mission has been set. The troops have their marching orders. But what if the target is the wrong guy all along?

-----------------------------------------

Swoon-tastic, adorable and delicious! I flew through this book faster than Cooper and Kate could have ever rowed. I mean that in the best way possible. It has been a long time where I was able (and wanted) to not put a book down for a second. I started Operation Prom Date on a Friday night and finished it Sunday afternoon. I adored every second of this adorable romance and I could not ship these characters any harder if I tried.

We start off our story with Kate, who is some-what of a loner and prefers to stick to herself. However, all she wants for her senior year goal is to land her crush for prom. Definitely not the easiest feat when you're shy, your best friend has abandoned you, and your crush is one of the hottest guys in school. However with the help of an old friend, Kate sets out to get exactly what she wants and I couldn't have loved following her more. Especially that she is a math nerd and I'm a math teacher, easy soft spot for our protagonist!

Kate isn't the only star of the show though. I adored Cooper and everything he stands for with his intelligence, blonde locks, and Kanye-scale abs he is everything you ship for in a boy. Then, there's Kate's mom who constantly had me laughing. She reminded me of my mom actually. It makes me so happy when an author can create a character that connects to something you love in your life.

Overall, this contemporary story was everything I look for in a fun, but adorable romance. I loved it from the very beginning up until the very end. If you want an quick, charming story with perfect references, characters, romance, parents, and pets (can't forget the pets) this is definitely a story for you. Cindi effortlessly weaves so many amazing qualities into this story and I cannot wait till her next one!

Cover Reveal - Omega by: Jus Accardo

---------

I am so beyond excited for this book! Plus this cover is gorgeous!

One mistake can change everything. Ashlyn Calvert finds that out the hard way when a bad decision leads to the death of her best friend, Noah Anderson.

Only Noah isn’t really gone. Thanks to his parents’ company, the Infinity Division, there is a version of him skipping from one dimension to another, set on revenge for the death of his sister, Kori. When a chance encounter brings him face-to-face with Ash, he’s determined to resist the magnetic pull he’s felt for her time and time again. Because falling for Ash puts his mission—and their lives—in danger.

JUS ACCARDO spent her childhood reading and learning to cook. Determined to follow in her grandfather’s footsteps as a chef, she applied and was accepted to the Culinary Institute of America. But at the last minute, she realized her true path lay with fiction, not food.

Jus is the bestselling author of the popular Denazen series from Entangled publishing, as well as the Darker Agency series, and the New Adult series, The Eternal Balance. A native New Yorker, she lives in the middle of nowhere with her husband, three dogs, and sometimes guard bear, Oswald.

Review - Things I Should Have Known by: Claire LaZebnik

From the author of Epic Fail comes the story of Chloe Mitchell, a Los Angeles girl on a quest to find love for her autistic sister, Ivy. Ethan, from Ivy’s class, seems like the perfect match. It’s unfortunate that his older brother, David, is one of Chloe’s least favorite people, but Chloe can deal, especially when she realizes that David is just as devoted to Ethan as she is to Ivy.

Uncommonly honest and refreshingly funny, this is a story about sisterhood, autism, and first love. Chloe, Ivy, David, and Ethan, who form a quirky and lovable circle, will steal readers’ hearts and remind us all that it’s okay to be a different kind of normal.

--------------------------------------------

I just adore every young adult book that Claire LaZebnik writes. Each one is always a time lime of events that just makes your heart melt for so many different reasons. Things I Should Have Known is no exception and is not only a cute read, but an eye-opening one as well.

It truly takes a special person to write about such a sensitive topic such as autism. Then to take a topic so serious and make sweet and fun is just something else. There are actually four main characters that our story revolves around. Watching Chloe, Ivy, Ethan, and David goes through so many different life lessons is weaved flawlessly.

I absolutely adored watching Chloe and Ivy's journey. This story is so much more than just a book with autism. It's romantic, coming of age, family-filled, and overall an adorable read. Claire LaZebnik writes wonderful young adult stories and hasn't let me down yet!

Review - Frostblood by: Elly Blake

Special thank you to the lovely Brooke Reports for this ARC.

Seventeen-year-old Ruby is a fireblood who must hide her powers of heat and flame from the cruel frostblood ruling class that wants to destroy all that are left of her kind. So when her mother is killed for protecting her and rebel frostbloods demand her help to kill their rampaging king, she agrees. But Ruby's powers are unpredictable, and she's not sure she's willing to let the rebels and an infuriating (yet irresistible) young man called Arcus use her as their weapon.

All she wants is revenge, but before they can take action, Ruby is captured and forced to take part in the king's tournaments that pit fireblood prisoners against frostblood champions. Now she has only one chance to destroy the maniacal ruler who has taken everything from her and from the icy young man she has come to love.

Fast-paced and compelling, Frostblood is the first in a page-turning new young adult three-book series about a world where flame and ice are mortal enemies—but together create a power that could change everything.

-------------------------------------------------------

"No, your death will be mine."

Fire and ice truly combine in this novel to make one enjoyable steaming ride. I had such high hopes for this book after all of the raving, and I have to admit I was not let down in the slightest. When stories combine romance, magic, and dystopian almost with a medieval feel, I cannot help but love every step of the journey.

When I first started reading Frostblood, I almost felt the beginning was slightly rushed. It was as if we were watching a movie and your friend tells you, "you have to watch the first five minutes, it's important!" The beginning is a crucial moment in Ruby's life and backstory though, so I appreciated it and the harshness that sets the mood for the rest of the book.

There are two parts to this book, each delicately intertwined. There are so many characters you meet along the way, ones you instantly fall for you, others you hate, and a few you grow to care for. Ruby, our protagonist, is a Fireblood hiding among lands ruled by Frostbloods. Not by choice, she soon finds her self fighting for her life and learning about a world she wasn't sure existed. I really enjoyed Ruby as a character, she was strong but in a more gentle way. Usually you get a character that is a kick-butt sass attack, however Ruby doesn't always believe in her self but she does stand for what is right. It's a really amazing quality to have in our protagonist and watch her grow.

One thing about a good book is when I'm happy I love the villains. Having multi-dimensional villains, make me love-hate them which is always intriguing when you're sitting there like "I should really not like you, but I do." There's more than one character like that in Frostblood, too.

Then of course there's our heroes and love interest. There are a lot of characters you grow to love in different ways, which is just yet another aspect I adore about Frostblood. Honestly, one common theme between them all is the secrets and mysteries that surround our "heroes" that make you wonder and slowly fall for them. I really appreciated Marella, Brother Thistle, and especially Arcus.

Overall, I truly enjoyed Frostblood. I have to say even reading it through completely, I'm still surprised it's not called "Fireblood" instead. Maybe it'll be the sequel, who knows! Speaking of a sequel, I cannot wait to see what Elly Blake has in store for us next. It's that nervous-I'm-scared-of-what-you'll-do but still so excited! If you haven't, definitely grab yourself a copy of Frostblood, hunker down on that couch and read the heck out of it!
