Review - The Glass Man by: Jocelyn Adams

Lila Gray is just a human—at least that’s her mantra when she accidentally topples a building or bends a paranoid local's gun into modern art. That she can sense and control the minds around her doesn’t prove anything, either. Unwilling to put others at risk, she hides in the wilderness from the beautiful creature who hunts her, one who sees her as his ultimate prize.

Alone, the egocentric Glass Man can kill with a thought. Mated with Lila, he's a supernatural weapon prepared to annihilate the humans he loathes.

Caught in the Glass Man’s latest scheme, Lila is plunged into a hidden fae realm, faced with a secret birthright and a forbidden romance.

With the Glass Man threatening everyone she loves, can Lila accept who she is in time to end his bloody reign? Or will she succumb to his dark power and become the vehicle of destruction for the human race?

Intended audience: 18+, strong language, adult themes, some violence.

______________________________________________

After reading Jocelyn Adams' Darkside Sun and hardcore loving it, I decided to scour her other books. When I saw she had fae under her belt I couldn't help but give it a try and let me tell you it didn't disappoint at all. I absolutely loved The Glass Man and once I hit a certain point could not put it down!

There are so many fellas in this book and I really loved so many of them. I'll start off with Garret, little Garret...I just adored every scene he was in. He's so frightened and yet brave and selfless I couldn't help but adore him! Along with selfless is Donovan, this dude is one awesome fae. Not only does he do everything in his power to help Lila but he's got some pretty cool powers. The other fella I will mention is Nix, I really like him. Although I say that, I'm a little wary thigh because Nix is the sweet, handsome, always there for you guy and well...I'm completely team Liam!

Liam Liam Liam! Oh man, I adore this guy. He is sexy and protective and has total love for Lila no matter what she throws his way which is a sign of such a great guy. Plus seeing his powers and the things he can do were just totally awesome as well. Of course with him, there's our main character, Lila. I liked sort-of growing with her. She was so lost and tough in the beginning, and although she's still a tough chick at the end she knows so much more about herself. Plus, I loved her attitude, there were so many times I laughed out loud at things she says.

One final boy I suppose I'll just mention a tiny bit is Parthalan. Man, is he bad...sexy bad but bad. Parthalan is the definition of power hungry, of using whatever and whoever he wants to get his way and I actually really liked him as a bad guy, as odd as that sounds...ha!

I'm not sure if she's considering this one adult or NA because our main character is 20 and there is some heavy language and sexual moments. That being said, I absolutely love this age range! No, it's not because I'm 24, but I have always preferred the older side of YA because nothing is really held back and that makes for a heck of an adventure.

Overall I absolutely adored this book. I love all things fae and in The Glass Man we get to see some really awesome sides to the seelie and unseelie. I'll admit that the beginning was a bit slow, I actually thought I read the wrong synopsis because it didn't seem like what I expecting, but once it started picking up...man did it pick up! Violence, sexy fellas, romance, heartbreak, awesome lore, and one kick-ass protagonist all contribute to this awesome story. Cannot wait to read the next one!

Blog Tour: How We Lived

Nineteen-year-old Kelsey Larkin’s parents uninvited her to her brother’s funeral. She just wanted to wear jeans and a T-shirt—the clothes Kyle would’ve wanted her in—not wrap herself up in death. So she watched the funeral from afar, like an outsider. Which is just how she feels.

Chase came, though, just like she knew he would. Until a few months ago, the three of them had been best friends, and then Chase made a mistake that shattered both families. But when Kelsey looks at him, she doesn’t see her brother’s killer. She sees the boy next door who’s always taken care of her. She sees home.

When Chase tells her his feelings run deeper than friendship, she can’t help but get lost in him. In Chase, she finally has the closure she’s been unable to find anywhere else. But the boy she’s falling in love with is still hiding secrets about the night Kyle died. Secrets that could destroy everything they have…again.

I just adored this book. How We Lived takes a death and spins it into a story with so many emotions and so many individuals overcoming grief. It has such a dark feel yet romantic and sexy too and I loved the combo.

Kelsey is such a great character for so many reasons. First, there is a huge change from her in the beginning to her at the end of the book and I was so proud of her for realizing she needed to change how she was living. Next I love show she reacted with her parents. Sometime people need a kick in the butt whether they want it or not. Then finally her relationship with Chase. Kels starts as one girl and then grows so much in the love department when it comes to Chase and I just adored them together.

I instantly loved Chase...maybe I thought he was an idiot for drinking and driving but I never once hated him. You can tell that he is a great guy who just got put into a crappy situation. Plus, it so blatantly clear how much he loves Kels and I could help but root for him.

One other character I have to give a shout out to is Vito...best old dude cooker advice giver EVER!

This book has such a dark feel and I love books like that. I will admit in the beginning there was a lot of emotion monologues instead of showing us, but it quickly subsided and didn't effect my read at all. With that being said How We Lived had so many elements I just adored. I like how Kyle was weaved in and out too with memories, that he played such an essential role in the story. More than that there was a little coming of age, family drama, learning who you are and what you want, sad moments, romance, sexiness... I just overall really enjoyed it. Definitely another great Embrace book!

Review - Tease by: Sophie Jordan

What happens when a girl who always calls the shots meets a guy who's too wild for even her?

A born flirt and good-time party girl, Emerson has never had a problem finding a willing guy. She's always chosen her hookups carefully, and she's never broken her three cardinal rules:

Never let them see the real you.
Never fall in love.
Always leave them begging for more.

Then Shaw comes along. A hottie from the wrong side of the tracks, he's immune to her flirtatious banter and come-hither smile. After rescuing her from a disastrous night at a biker bar, he doesn't even try to take her to bed—he calls her a tease and sends her home instead. Unable to resist a challenge, or forget the sexy, dark-eyed, bad-boy biker, she vows to bring him to his knees.

But instead of making Shaw beg, Emerson finds herself craving him. For the first time in her life, she's throwing out her rule book. Suddenly, she's the one panting for a guy she can't control—a guy who won't settle for anything less than the real Emerson and who forces her to do things she's never imagined, including facing a past she thought she'd buried.

A guy who just might leave her wanting more. . .

______________________________________

I just cannot get enough of this world that Sophie Jordan has decided to master. The college setting, the issues, and the beyond sexy guys...total win! Foreplay totally killed me with it's amazingness and I couldn't wait to dive into Tease. Tease definitely has the same well-written and emotionally sexy ride and I loved it!

It's so funny how people can put on a front, or how other people can completely make up an image for someone without even knowing them. Emerson is the "tease", the one who doesn't do boyfriends and is always in control of her hookups. Emerson doesn't let anyone see her though, not until Shaw that is. Shaw... The name alone sends shivers down your spine. I love how he instantly swoops in as a protector. The fact that he sees right through Em's BS and doesn't let her get away with it. Their relationship is anything but normal and I was forever living for scenes with them together.

Overall another new adult stunner from Sophie Jordan. Besides the romance, I adored the art aspect as well. I love this series and am so excited for Wild, Georgia and Logan's (finally, squee!) story! If you like sexy times, drama, and an overall good read that you'll whip through...you have to take this series for a spin!

Author: Skye Malone
Genre: Young Adult Paranormal Romance
Publisher: Wildflower Isle
Expected Publication: June 3, 2014

Running away from home was never Chloe Kowalski’s plan. Neither was ending up the target of killers, or having her body change in unusual ways. She only wanted a vacation, someplace far from her crazy parents and their irrational fear of water. She only wanted to do something normal for once, and maybe get to know her best friend’s hot stepbrother a bit better at the same time.

But the first day she goes out on the ocean, strange things start to happen. Dangerous things that should be impossible. Things to which ‘normal’ doesn’t even begin to apply.

Now madmen are hunting her. A mysterious guy with glowing blue eyes is following her. And her best friend’s stepbrother seems to be hiding secrets all his own.

It was supposed to be a vacation. It’s turning out to be a whole lot more.

Review - Falling By Design By: Valia Lind

Brooklynn Summers has a plan for her life: graduate from high school, get into a top fashion school, prove to her family that she’s not a failure. She wishes someone in her life understood her need to create because her parents sure don’t support her dreams, her sister hates her, and the deadlines are soon approaching.

Enter Grayson Banks.

There are a few things in life Brooklynn can’t stand: mismatched patterns, cheap polyester, and Grayson. No boy has ever publicly humiliated Brooklynn like Grayson has. When he suddenly moved away in eighth grade, Brooklynn happily wished him good riddance. But on the first day of senior year, Grayson comes back, with his piercing blue eyes and a smile that melts icebergs, he is not exactly the boy Brooklynn remembers. She quickly realizes that Grayson’s intentions have completely shifted, but she’s not sure if she can put their past behind her.

Grayson understands Brooklynn’s creative ambitions and he devises a plan to showcase her work to the world. When the two agree to work together, suddenly, there is more than just fabric paint that’s having a chemical reaction to its environment. Brooklynn cannot help but feel pulled into Grayson’s arms, but memories and misunderstandings surface, putting in danger whatever small comradeship these two childhood enemies have constructed.

Can Brooklynn overcome her own insecurities, finally making her dreams come true? Even a dream she didn’t know she had.

This is a story about a girl with big dreams and a boy who helps her achieve them.

_____________________________________

Falling By Design is such a super cute read! I couldn't get enough of Grayson and Brooklynn's adorable love game.

Brooklynn's senior year takes a turn for the worst when her childhood bully returns after being away for years. Or so she thinks it's for the worst. I loved watching Brooklynn break out of her shell, not run away and show the world what she's made of. I give her a ton of credit for standing up to her parents constantly and not backing down either. Plus her relationship with her best friends Chance and Dakota was just everything a friendship should be and I loved that.

Then on the other side is Grayson Banks who is so much more than meets the eye and so much more than who Brooklynn thinks he is. The fact that he's got shaggy hair, baby blues, super tall, and loves photography was a total seller for me. Plus I love how he never played games with Brooklynn, he was always on her side and so selfless for her and that is a good guy in my book.

This young adult romance is super light and fun read, yet at the same time touches on so many important parts of growing up in high school. If you're looking for a cute ya romance that'll have you smiling by the end definitely give this one a shot!
