Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine.

Title: This Is Not a Test
Author: Courtney Summers
Expected Release Date: June 2012
Add it: Goodreads

Synopsis: It’s the end of the world. Six students have taken cover in Cortege High but shelter is little comfort when the dead outside won’t stop pounding on the doors. One bite is all it takes to kill a person and bring them back as a monstrous version of their former self. To Sloane Price, that doesn’t sound so bad. Six months ago, her world collapsed and since then, she’s failed to find a reason to keep going. Now seems like the perfect time to give up.

As Sloane eagerly waits for the barricades to fall, she’s forced to witness the apocalypse through the eyes of five people who actually want to live. But as the days crawl by, everyone’s motivations to survive begin to change in startling ways and soon the group’s fate is determined less and less by what’s happening outside and more and more by the unpredictable and violent bids for life–and death–inside.

When everything is gone, what do you hold on to?

Teaser Tuesday

This week Teaser Tuesday comes from Melissa Darnell's Crave. I loved this book so much! You will definitely want to buy this one when it comes out! (Read my review here.) Otherwise, enjoy your teaser(s)...

"Then I saw her face. She looked ready to cry again. Aw, man, I was a jerk. Here I was ready to do a touchdown dance, and she looked like someone had just killed her dog."

"I edged closer to my unconscious boyfriend cuffed to a chair nearby.
My judges gathered in a tight half circle a few feet away. Probably so they could see me better as I failed their test.
The guard's face looked bored, as if to say this was nothing personal. Which was a lie. This was totally personal. And all my fault.
He reached inside his inner jacket pocket and took out two items... a syringe and a scalpel. Their clear plastic protectors made loud snicks as he removed them.
I gulped, the air rushing in and out of my lungs in noisy gusts I couldn't hide within the silence of the cold cement room.
The guard stepped closer to us. My thigh muscle tensed, the instinct to fight pulsing through me, and the guard's eyes grew cautious. He knew I was desperate. But that didn't make me stupid."

"I understood then why humans have noses. So we can find each other to kiss in the dark."

So... one tense teaser and then three of my favorite lines! Hope you enjoyed! :)

Crave by: Melissa Darnell

Synopsis: Savannah Colbert has been shunned all her life by the kids of the Clann. And when she undergoes some drastic changes after a strange illness, Savannah learns secrets about the group and about herself—dangerous secrets. For the Clann are powerful magic users, and Savannah herself is half Clann and half vampire—a forbidden, unheard of combination. Falling for Clann golden boy Tristan Coleman isn't just a bad idea—it could be deadly if anyone finds out. But her attraction to Tristan—and his to her—isn't something either of them can resist for long.

Thoughts:  Melissa Darnell has created a magical, yet practical world and a perfect forbidden romance that has me (pun intended) craving more. I cannot get over how much I loved this book. I want more. Need more. (Man, I feel like a vampire.) I am just blown away with this beautifully, creative story.

Crave starts off with Savannah Colbert, a freshman in high school who seems to be an outcast all because in forth grade she was forbidden to ever hang out with her best friends from "The Clann" ever again. After falling extremely ill, Sav (short for Savannah) learns that she is the only known dhampir... half witch, half vampire. Unlucky for her, the two groups are against each other, so Savannah continues on with life as normal as she can. Upon her return, she seems to be getting way more attention than normal though. When Sav starts to become extremely attracted to The Clann's future leader and her ex-best friend, Tristan, and the forbidden attraction is returned, Sav will have to figure out what to do quickly before her entire world is turned upside down.

I literally could not read this book fast enough, yet while I was whipping through the pages, I did not want it to end. Melissa Darnell creates such a unique story of witches and vampires, and at the same time it's a story about a teenage girl with normal problems. Yeah, there's the whole I'm supposed to hate the amazing boy I'm falling for because he's the son of The Clann's leader, but on the other end of the spectrum there's a normal girl with boyfriend, friend, school, and family problems. Also, throw Tristan in that mix and all of his problems and we get one amazing story.

I thought the story flowed perfectly. I loved following Savannah and Tristan through their journey. Yes, duel perspectives!! We get to look inside Savannah's thoughts and Tristan's. Another aspect, is the book spans over a good amount of time... which is something I love in books. Makes the story feel more real to me because it gives the relationships time to develop. And finally, I absolutely adore the dialog in Crave. There were so many times I was laughing, or doing my little happy 'YESS' dance while reading. Melissa Darnell has a way of making you feel the emotions right along with the characters and it's brilliant.

With Savannah and Tristan, I absolutely loved both of their characters. You can add Tristan right to my Christmas list... get a nice big box with a big green bow to match his eyes and put him inside and I'll be set! First off, I was instantly in love with Tristan's name. Then, I fell for his looks... golden blonde curls and green eyes. HELLO, that is my PERFECT combo right there! (He matches me!). Then, as the story rolled on... you cannot help but love Tristan. He is so strong, so caring, built and athletic, willing to do anything for Savannah... he's totally swoon-worthy. Savannah totally picked herself a winner.

Savannah, also with a gorgeous name, has the looks as well with her pale skin, red hair, and gray-blue-green eyes. Sav is so stubborn, yet determined. She's smart and loves her family. Everything Savannah has to go through in this story with her friends, family, and Tristan and she's still strong as ever. Sav is a completely admirable protagonist and I cannot wait to follow more of her and Tristan's story in Covet

Other than those two, there are so many characters that make Crave what is is. One of my favorite secondary characters happened to be Tristan's sister, Emily. I loved her care-free attitude and how she helped her brother no matter what... where's my sister like that? Also, I have to admit I loved the role Greg played in the book and also Savannah's best friend Anne... Anne is too funny. Then there's of course The Clann and The Vampires... which I am dying to find out more about!

This has turned out to be one of my longest reviews and I'm sorry, but I just couldn't help it! I absolutely loved Crave and everything about it. Plus, I love dance and that aspect was also thrown in the mix! The cover, the story line, the characters... all pulled me in to the magically dark world of Crave. It's easy to see that I am dying for the sequel, Covet. Every one should definitely keep this one of their radar. Buy it, read it, love it! Five stars out of five. :)

PS. The playlist and sneak peek of Covet, just made me love, love, LOVE it even more!

Music Monday ♫

Hi everyone! So a little update before I play a few songs... I do start classes this week. BOOOO, I know! So if I start to slow down, that's why (though I hope I won't!!). We all have jobs, school, classes, family, etc. So, most people totally understand because they are going through the same thing. But, I don't plan on going anywhere... so you're stuck with me! =P

Okay onto music! Both songs are haunting, in a way. I've been in love with these two songs this week. They're both very meaningful and I love the way they sound. Enjoy! :)

1) CocoRosie - Werewolf

2) Digital Daggers - Where The Lonely Ones Roam
(One of my favorite songs)

Trial By Fire by: Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Synopsis: There can only be one alpha.

Bryn is finally settling into her position as alpha of the Cedar Ridge Pack—or at least, her own version of what it means to be alpha when you’re a human leading a band of werewolves. Then she finds a teenage boy bleeding on her front porch. Before collapsing, he tells her his name is Lucas, he’s a Were, and Bryn’s protection is his only hope.

But Lucas isn’t part of Bryn’s pack, and she has no right to claim another alpha’s Were. With threats—old and new—looming, and danger closing in from all sides, Bryn will have to accept what her guardian Callum knew all along. To be alpha, she will have to give in to her own animal instincts and become less human. And, she’s going to have to do it alone.

Bryn faces both the costs, and the rewards, of love and loyalty, in this thrilling sequel to Raised by Wolves.

_____________________

Thoughts: If you enjoyed Raised By Wolves, you will no doubt love Trial By Fire. It in no way disappoints. Trial By Fire continues the unique werewolf story that we've grown to love. It is strong, suspenseful, and will have an ending you didn't see coming.

Trial By Fire continues where we left off in Raised By Wolves. Bryn is now alpha of the Cedar Ridge Pack. Not only is Bryn the only human alpha, she also has the pack with the most females and most young children. Bryn is under extreme pressure to protect them all, especially from her enemy Shay, the alpha of the Snake Bend Pack. When, Lucas, a dying teenage boy were shows up on Bryn's porch, she has to once again be the strength her pack needs and figure out how to solve the issue before anyone gets hurt, or worse killed.

I was really impressed with Trial By Fire. This story is so unique and Bryn is SUCH a strong female lead. I actually have to admit, *I* think that she is one of the strongest, toughest females leads I've read about. She will always do anything for her pack, they always comes first. Bryn does whatever she has to do in Trial By Fire to keep her pack safe, including sacrificing herself... no matter the cost.

Moving on to the boys... yep, I'm just going to say it Devon is my favorite. *gasp* The love interest isn't my favorite for once! And yes, I'm going to be honest and say Devon is my favorite character in the book. He has everything you could ask for in a best friend, or a guy for that matter. He's witty, protective, strong, good-looking, caring, self-sacrificing... I mean HELLO perfection.

Then, there's Chase. Oh Chase... you sweet heart you. I love Chase, I really do, but unfortunately I just don't feel fully connected to him. I don't know if it's him per say or it's the Bryn/Chase thing I don't feel the connection with. I had this same issue in Raised By Wolves but, I admit I liked Chase much more in Trial By Fire. He always puts Bryn first, is completely honest and would do absolutely anything for her. He's a strong boy that I'd want on my side any day.

Another guy, who of course played a role is Callum. I've loved Callum from book one. I think he's a such a wise character and I cannot wait to see him in book three.

With Trial By Fire there were also new characters, ones I really quite enjoyed. But don't worry, all the old characters you've grown to love are still there! PS. LAKE.... she is BAD ASS at pool. And I love it! I love pool.

Trial By Fire had a few twists I did not see coming at all. The story line was so perfectly executed and so unique. I was so impressed with how Trail By Fire played out and I am so excited to read the next book. Five stars out of Five.

Anna Dressed In Blood by: Kendare Blake

Synopsis: Just your average boy-meets-girl, girl-kills-people story. . .

Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.

So did his father before him, until his gruesome murder by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father's mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.

When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn't expect anything outside of the ordinary: move, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he's never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, but now stained red and dripping blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.

And she, for whatever reason, spares his life.

Thoughts:
1) "And she, for whatever reason, spares his life."  - How much does that last line pull you in? It seriously grabs me, and yanked me right into the story before I even started reading it.
2) The cover is too perfect for words. The model is beautiful (from behind at least). The dress is gorgeous and stained blood! How awesome! The creepy Victorian in the background... the cover is just too amazing. I love it. I need a poster of it.
3) In my opinion, this book is perfect in almost every way. It's a terrifying ride that taunts you with the cover, pulls you in with the first page, and keeps you entertained all the way to the final words. I couldn't have asked for a better book.

We start off with Theseus Cassio, or Cas as we know him. Cas is a ghost hunter, just like his father until he was brutally murdered. Now Cas, his mother, and his cat travel to wherever they need to be so that Cas, with his father's athame, can continue to kill ghosts. After a friend tips him off, Cas and his family go in search of a ghost named Anna Dressed In Blood, who as her name says wears a dress covered in her blood and kills anyone who comes into her home. Cas feels strangely drawn to this particular hunt, and will quickly find out that she is the most powerful ghost he has ever come in contact with... so far.

I am sure I will tell you how much I loved this book in every other sentence... so beware.

Anna Dressed In Blood is the ultimate, perfect ghost story. Well, there was one part that I was very distraught about because it made me super sad... but, I guess that's just another reason why this book is so perfect to me. Because, it was able to pull at every one of my emotions. If you know me, you know I love creepy, eeries, intense books and normally, I even read them at night and they don't freak me out what so ever. At one part during Anna, my stomach actually dropped. At the end of the chapter I was like 'GTFO, no way, RUN!'. So thank you Kendare for that! :)

When I say every emotion, I mean it. There were parts where I was some-what frightened, sad, laughing, wanted to punch someone in the face, surprised, sighing from happiness, I was just hanging onto every word. Believe me when I say Kendare has wrote one phenomenal story, one that has 100% ended up on my favorites list in my top three.

I loved all the characters, as well. Actually... I disliked a few... BUT with very good reason. Read the book and you'll see exactly what I mean! Anna, Cas, Thomas, and Carmel though take my character love prize. They are all so smart, so strong, so different from one another yet all coming together, and they have everything you could ask for in characters. PS. Super sexy alert on Cas!!! ;)

This story doesn't just have amazing characters though. It has lessons, witty lines, romance, suspense, murder, family, sacrifice, laughs, which all wraps up into one perfect ghost adventure that will have you turning page after page until the very end. And, when it's all over you'll be begging for more. I know, I did. The end is absolutely mind-blowing awesomeness. And I was jumping for joy when I found out there is a sequel that will be released in 2012!

I cannot rave about this book enough. So as I've done before I'm going to cut myself off. A few final words though. Kendare Blake, you are a genius. I adored your writing and this story. I believe it would an amazing movie and I am SO, so (beyond words) excited to read the sequel! To everyone reading this, go pre-order/buy this book! You will not be disappointed. If I could give this book a million stars out of 5 I would. Best. Ghost. Story. Book. Ever.

Shattered Souls by: Mary Lindsey

Synopsis: Lenzi hears voices and has visions - gravestones, floods, a boy with steel gray eyes. Her boyfriend, Zak, can't help, and everything keeps getting louder and more intense. Then Lenzi meets Alden, the boy from her dreams, who reveals that she's a reincarnated Speaker - someone who can talk to and help lost souls - and that he has been her Protector for centuries.

Now Lenzi must choose between her life with Zak and the life she is destined to lead with Alden. But time is running out: a malevolent spirit is out to destroy Lenzi, and he will kill her if she doesn't make a decision soon.

Thoughts: With an end I actually didn't see coming, Shattered Souls is a unique, fun yet intense read about trusting in yourself, helping lost souls, romance, and second chances.

Lenzi is a normal high school girl... but she hears voices. Voices she cannot make go away, which worries her because she doesn't want to end up like her father who killed himself. Lenzi has her boyfriend Zak though. A sexy, musician who tries to help her. When Lenzi starts having visions of a graveyard and boy she goes and there she meets Alden. Alden reveals that she is a Speaker who can help lost souls move on and that he is her protector. When Alden starts to help with the voices in her head, Lenzi is more confused than ever and has to chose to stay with Zak and give up everything or to lead the life she's supposed to lead as a Speaker with Alden.

I really enjoyed Shattered Souls. I thought it was a unique concept with writing I loved to read. Even more, I loved all the characters. Plus the name Lenzi... I adore it! It's such a pretty, unique name and I'm all about that! I have to admit, I actually loved Zak. Yes, I think he made some bad choices but had reasons for the way he was. Zak plays guitar and sings, plus is sexy! Like how can you not like him?! On the other side, there is Alden. Alden is just adorable. I love his blonde hair and gray eyes and the fact that he is SO sincere. He really only puts Lenzi first. I also really liked Race... I thought he was perfect comical relief and a good friend.

I have to admit, I teared up at the very end of the book because I honestly did not see that end happening. It 100% makes sense... but my first reaction was just 'Oh my god noooo :('. I thought the concept was fantastic, the story line perfectly done, and I loved the romance. Overall, fantastic book. It's a fun, yet intriguing read that I think every one will enjoy. Five starts out of five, for sure! :)

PS. I'm still hoping for a sequel!

Everblue by: Brenda Pandos

Synopsis: Best friends share everything with each other. Or do they? Seventeen-year-old Ashlyn Frances Lanski is tired of her boring, single life. Spending time with her best friend Tatiana, dreaming about kissing Tatiana's twin brother Fin, and swimming competitively are her only sanctuary. The girls plan to leave their drab lakeside town far behind for college. But when Tatchi fails to return home after a family emergency, and no one knows where the family has gone, Ash chooses to do something drastic to find them.

Ashlyn is about to discover what she’d thought to be true her whole life, wasn’t, and the truth, too fantastical to imagine. Secrets lurk beneath the deep blue waters of Lake Tahoe, secrets that will change Ashlyn's life forever.

Thoughts: As soon as I saw this book pop up on my goodreads page, my first thought was 'WOW what a stunning cover!!' and my second thought was 'I have to order that now!' And, I am so glad I did. I fell in love with book from the first chapter. It's a unique, filled with tons of action, beautiful story and I loved every second of it.

Everblue starts off with Ashlyn & Tatchi who are neighbors and best friends. Enjoying an afternoon on the beach - Ash plans to finish her senior year in high school and then her and Tatchi will have college adventures together. Then, Fin shows up, Tatchi's twin brother and also Ash's long time crush, taking Tatchi home. As Ash continues on with her life, she realizes that Tatchi and Fin have left without a trace. Ash, feeling as something terrible has happened, tries to continue to figure out what happened to her best friend and her brother and before she knows will come colliding with a world she never could have imagined.

Firstly, I just noticed the last 'e' on the cover of Everblue is shaped like a mermaid fin! HOW CREATIVE. A little detail that I adore!

As I've said before... I love books that have to do with water or Mermaids. It's something I've always loved. And, I just adored this book. I loved the creativeness of the world, how it's told from duel viewpoints, the romance, the friendships, I just loved it all. Being able to be inside Fin and Ash's head and follow each of their stories was just brilliantly done. Brenda crafted the book beautifully. We watched both Ash's and Fin's worlds start together, be torn apart but only to come crashing back into each other.

Speaking of Ash & Fin... yes I loved them both. Ashlyn (beautiful name by the way) is your normal, swimmer, teenage girl. She's pretty but not popular, captain of the swim team, has friends, and is everything you'd expect in a daughter. You can't help but love her. And Fin... oh Fin! :) Fin is sexxxxxyy. Come rescue me any day! With his blonde hair, piercing blue eyes, and totally caring self he's easy for fall for. Also there's Tatchi, Fin's twin sister and Ash's best friend. I have to say I loved Tatchi's character as well. Shes strong and stubborn and I cannot wait to see what happens to all three of them in the next book!

Another quick character I really liked was Callahan. How could you not love the gorgeous, baseball pitcher with a sweet heart? I'm dying to see if he's in the next book!

I was so happy with how the book ended, yet I was also a tad bit like 'Awwww MAN!'. I'm so anxious for the next book. I need to know what happens with Ash and Fin and Tatchi and everything!! I'm so glad I ended up buying and reading this book right away. I loved it SO, so much. Easily a new favorite and I cannot wait to find out what happens with the rest of the series!

PS. I need a little blue vile of essence please!
PPS. I TOTALLY know where I want a tattoo now. ;)

Frost by: Marianna Baer

Synopsis: Leena Thomas’s senior year at boarding school begins with a shock: Frost House, her cozy dorm of close friends, has been assigned an unexpected roommate: confrontational, eccentric Celeste Lazar. But while Leena’s anxiety about a threat to her sanctuary proves valid, it becomes less and less clear whether the threat lies with her new roommate, within Leena’s own mind, or within the very nature of Frost House itself. Mysterious happenings in the dorm, an intense triangle between Leena, Celeste, and Celeste’s brother, and the reawakening of childhood fears, all push Leena to take increasingly desperate measures to feel safe. Frost is the story of a haunting. As to whether the demons are supernatural or psychological . . . well, which answer would let you sleep at night?

Thoughts: Frost is an eerily written story that will have you questioning what you believe even after the story is over. Part romance, part struggle, part haunting, part friendship, part fun, and part crazy, Frost will keep you hanging on to every page making you wish you'd looked into your closet before you started.

Frost starts off with the beginning of Leena's senior year at Barcroft Academy. Having an "in" with the Dean Leena and her friends are granted an adorable Victorian style house dorm in which Leena feels drawn to. Unfortunately Leena get an unexpected roommate, Celeste Lazar, and the only benefit is that she has an attractive, caring brother named David. The more Leena connects to the Frost house, the more strange things start happening. As Leena and her roommate Celeste start spiraling downward, they hurry to figure out the causes before it's too late.

I love eerie, creepy stories. I'm not sure why because I hate scary movies hah! But, reading a thriller makes me turn the pages even quicker, I just love that feeling of suspense and Frost has that. Even after the book is over, you're still like 'Wait a second? Is that house.....' and that is a really interesting way to end a book! And as the description says 'Supernatural or Psychological?'... I'm totally going with Supernatural. But, don't let me sway you. Read it and decide for yourself...and I dare you to read it at night. I did... and I'm fine! ;)

I really liked Leena's character. Yes, I'm fully aware that she kind of has a downward spiral throughout the story, but that being said I think she is such a strong character. Leena has already dealt with so much in her past and she completely depends on herself (among other things). She has best friends, good grades, and a sexy love interest that keep her grounded. Plus she's blonde with glasses which totally reminds me of myself at the moment (since I'm not aloud to wear my contacts right now). Leena is also "Miss Fix-it" which is a strong, unique quality to have in a girl.

I mentioned a certain sexy love interest which would be... David. With his striking blue eyes, and his protective, caring manners you can't help but love him. I also loved the note in which this romance ends on. Because, all things are not fairytales and butterflies. Strong relationships need to be worked on and I loved how Marianna Baer did that with David and Leena.

Overall fantastic book. I really enjoyed it. Eerie, romantic, and full of surprises. Want chills?

Undercurrent by: Tricia Rayburn

Synopsis: The sirens are back, but Vanessa may be the biggest threat of all. . . .

Nothing has been normal since Vanessa Sands learned that her sister was murdered by sirens—femme fatales of the watery depths—and that everything she believed about her family was a lie.

Her boyfriend Simon’s been the only person Vanessa feels she can really trust. But now there are some secrets she can’t tell even him. And when Vanessa finds herself in the sights of Parker, Hawthorne Prep’s resident charmer, she needs someone to confide in more than ever. Doubting her relationship with Simon, unsure of Parker’s intentions—and of her own—and terrified by what she’s learned about herself, Vanessa has never felt so alone.

But personal problems must be put aside, because the Winter Harbor sirens are back for revenge. Now, Vanessa must face her past and accept that she is just like her enemies—every bit as alluring, every bit as dangerous.

The eagerly anticipated second novel of the Siren trilogy, Undercurrent is a seductive paranormal romance that will leave you breathless.

Thoughts: Seductive? Leave you breathless? Whoever wrote that couldn't have been more dead on. I just finished Undercurrent and I'm still sitting here like O_O. Undercurrent was just as good or even better than Siren. I loved every aspect of it. There were a few twists I just did not see coming that blew my socks off.

Undercurrent starts right where Siren left us. Vanessa is back home in Boston and ready to start the school year. With Paige joining her at home, her amazing boyfriend, Simon, by her side, and all the sirens from Winter Harbor frozen what could go wrong, right? With the pressure of school and college Vanessa gets the attention of the school's most popular player, Parker King and the feelings just may be mutual. So, Vanessa starts to doubt things with Simon, more people are turning up dead, and things seem to be changing, Vanessa will have to discover the problem quicker than she thinks.

Let me just start by saying it is SO rare if I cry/tear up while reading. Only a select few have ever made me cry (a couple being: Forbidden by: Tabitha Suzuma and Feed by: Mira Grant). I must be really invested in these characters because at the end of Undercurrent, I was tearing up. Oh man those fast few pages killed me... for more than one reason actually. Only one reason made me tear up though. And no, I'm sorry I can't tell you. I won't spoil. I will say, it takes amazing words and an amazing book to make me tear up though.

I couldn't have asked for Undercurrent to be any different. I loved the characters, the writing, the surprises, the love triangle, the suspense, the opening chapter heheh ;), just everything about it was brilliantly crafted. And let me just say I love Simon. I loved Simon all through-out Siren and I still loved him all through-out Undercurrent. He is the cutest boyfriend ever. He is just so sincere.

I'm still sitting here like "O_O". Excuse me while I take my own seaweed shot or something because I'll need something to hold me over until Pulse (Book 3). (Just one little outburst: How could you end it like that Tricia?!?! AHH. I hope it resolves in Pulse, oh gosh. I hope, I hope, I hope.).

If you read Siren, please go buy Undercurrent you will not be disappointed (at least in my opinion). It's quick-paced, suspense packed, and will pull at your heart strings. Undercurrent has 'lured' me in every way. I am anxiously awaiting Pulse. Five out of Five stars.

Waiting On Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine.

Title: Above
Author: Leah Bobet
Expected Release Date: April 2012
Add it: Goodreads

Synopsis: Matthew's father had lion's feet and his mother had gills, and both fled the modern-day city to live in underground Safe, a secret community of freaks, ghost-whisperers, and disabled outcasts hidden beyond the subways and sewers. Raised underground, Matthew is responsible for the keeping of both Safe's histories and the traumatized shapeshifter Ariel, the girl he took in, fell in love with – and can't stop from constantly running away.

But Safe is no longer safe: the night after a frightening encounter in the sewers, Safe's founder Atticus is murdered by the one person Safe ever exiled: mad Corner, whose coup is backed by an army of mindless, whispering shadows.

Only Matthew, Ariel, and a handful of unstable, crippled compatriots escape to the city that cast them out; the dangerous place he knows only as Above. Despite Ariel's increasingly erratic behaviour and with the odds against them, Matthew must find a way to rescue Safe from Corner's occupying army. But as his quest leads him through abandoned asylums and the dregs of urban poverty, Matthew discovers that the histories he's devoted his life to aren't true: Corner's invasion -- and Ariel's terrors – are rooted in a history of Safe much darker and bloodier than Matthew ever imagined.

And even if he manages to save both home and Ariel, he may well lose himself.

Thoughts: I think this book sounds amazingly good! I also just love, love, love the cover! Can't wait to read it! How about you?

Teaser Tuesday

So I just recently finished Frost by: Marianna Baer and I really enjoyed it! I love creepy stories and this is definitely one! So enjoy...

__________________________________________________________

"Celeste..." I turned the key and pushed open the door. "I don't want--"
I froze. Scattered debris covered an area of the bedroom floor stretching from Celeste's closet more than halfway across the room. "What the hell?" I flipped on the overhead light. Twigs, twine, dried grass, dirty ribbons. Nests. Or what used to be nests. I took a few careful steps. The closet door was wide open. Inside, a cardboard box on the high shelf lay with it's top, facing front, flaps agape. More remnants from the nests were below the box, caught among Celeste's dresses and skirts.
Celeste hadn't moved from the doorway. Her face was pale, mouth small.
"The box must have tipped over," I said. My heart hammered.
"And this happened? How?"
"Maybe by accident," I said. "The box tipped when you were getting something? But didn't spill until--"
"By accident?" She looked at me. "How can you say that? Don't you see?
"What?"
She pointed at the floor. "Can't you see what it says?"
I surveyed the scraggly mess. Then it came together, into two big letters.
Go.

Teaser Tuesday

I just started Shattered Souls by: Mary Lindsey and I like it so far. So here's a small teaser for you! :)

_____________________________________________________

"I need your help," the same small voice cried, now from right next to me.
I flinched so hard I smacked my head on the steel stall divider. Fear masked the pain from the lump rising on the back of my skull. There was no one there. I was hearing things, just like he did.
I had to get out. Now!
I yanked the door handle to escape. It wouldn't budge. My fingers fumbled with the lock, but it was stuck. Gripping the handle, I tugged hard.
"Oh, my God!" I yelled. "Let me out!"

Epic Fail Giveaway! (International)

So I'm having this giveaway on a whim. Why you ask? Well... let me tell you why!

I read an ARC of this book a while ago (thanks to my girl Alexis!) and I absolutely adored it! It is a fun, cute, and quick read... and I'm sure ladies and even gents, you will want your own Derek afterwards! :) Also, this book just came out this past Tuesday and I feel like it's not getting the recognition it should be. And if you don't know what it is about here's a description...

Synopsis: Will Elise’s love life be an epic win or an epic fail?

At Coral Tree Prep in Los Angeles, who your parents are can make or break you. Case in point: As the son of Hollywood royalty, Derek Edwards is pretty much prince of the school—not that he deigns to acknowledge many of his loyal subjects.

As the daughter of the new principal, Elise Benton isn’t exactly on everyone’s must-sit-next-to-at-lunch list.

When Elise’s beautiful sister catches the eye of the prince’s best friend, Elise gets to spend a lot of time with Derek, making her the envy of every girl on campus. Except she refuses to fall for any of his rare smiles and instead warms up to his enemy, the surprisingly charming social outcast Webster Grant. But in this hilarious tale of fitting in and flirting, not all snubs are undeserved, not all celebrity brats are bratty, and pride and prejudice can get in the way of true love for only so long.

So..... you're darn right I'm going to give it away. Ohhh.... but nope not just one. There will be TWO copies up for grabs. So that means TWO winners.

EDIT: Look what I bought! :)

*Two winners! The giveaway will last for one week. The contest will close August 13th @ Midnight (EST) and I'll pick a winner on August 14th.

- There are no requirements.
- If you want extra entries there are ways to earn them!
- International
- You must be 13 years or older.
- Winner will be chosen randomly.

Just fill out THIS FORM. And good luck! :)
