The Replacement by: Brenna Yovanoff

Synopsis: Mackie Doyle is not one of us. Though he lives in the small town of Gentry, he comes from a world of tunnels and black murky water, a world of living dead girls ruled by a little tattooed princess. He is a Replacement, left in the crib of a human baby sixteen years ago. Now, because of fatal allergies to iron, blood, and consecrated ground, Mackie is fighting to survive in the human world.

Mackie would give anything to live among us, to practice on his bass or spend time with his crush, Tate. But when Tate's baby sister goes missing, Mackie is drawn irrevocably into the underworld of Gentry, known as Mayhem. He must face the dark creatures of the Slag Heaps and find his rightful place, in our world, or theirs

Thoughts: An eerie, haunting story that will make you wonder why anyone would want to live in Gentry.

We start off with Mackie Doyle, who knows he's different from his family and his friends. He has super dark eyes, can't stand being near any kind of iron, and is forced to keep a low profile. He's not the only thing off in his town though, and everyone seems to know that Gentry is a eerie place to live. When Mackie starts to get extremely sick, and his friend Tate's sister is pronounced dead, Mackie will have no choice but to dig into the twisted underground of Gentry.

I have to say, I originally bought this book when it was first released, but I kept putting it off. As more and more reviews came out, the jury seemed very mixed on the story, so I kept putting it off. Well, I shouldn't have because I really enjoyed The Replacement! It's a very different story, unlike anything I've read before. It was eerie, dark, twisted, and intense. It also had amazing quotes, and that's a huge plus for me!

I adored Mackie's character. He knows he's different, he feels like he's never belonged, and he tries not to stand out because the town would hate him if they knew the truth. In reality, Mackie always belonged, he proved that you can be different and still be normal. Mackie is so real for me in the way he pins after hot girls, hangs with a certain group of friends, plays bass, but ends up in love with one tough chick. I loved him and was rooting for him till the end.

Tate... Oh man Tate is a tough little cookie. She's almost like a pitbull but still shows love to those who actully mean something to her. I also loved Roswell... Now he is a TRUE friend. One I would most certainly always want on my side!

I also loved the scary town and mysterious underground that the author created. I personally would never want to live there, but it was oh so intriguing to read about!

I thought it was a fabulous story and very unique. I love how there's romance, and it moves like a real love life, but it's not the main story. I also loved the darkness of it all, books like these fascinate me. If you're on the fence about this one, I suggest giving it a shot! :)

Overprotected by: Jennifer Laurens

Synopsis: Ashlyn: A lonely society princess living in New York City.

Daddy hired you to be my bodyguard.

Colin: Childhood enemy, now her protector.

Daddy thought I’d be safe. He thought I’d never fall in love. He thought he could keep me forever.

Charles: obsessed with keeping her safe, keeping her his, he hires the one person he knows she could never fall in love with: Colin.

Daddy was wrong.

This book is SO much more than a love story. It will show you struggle, emotion, love, and it's all so real. I adored every page of this story.

We start off with New York "princess" Ashlyn. After being abducted by a nanny when she was young, her father goes to every precaution to protect her, including hiring a body guard to watch her. Ashlyn who is almost 18 constantly asks her father to lighten up, but he will hear nothing of the sort. So when her previous body guard starts to become too close to Ashlyn, her father fires him and hires a new bodyguard. Now, if having someone follow you around 24/7 was irritating, imagine if your new bodyguard was your childhood enemy. Soon Ashlyn will realize that people can change, there are secrets she could have never imagined, and to never give up on what you want.

I adored this book! I feel like all the books I've read by Jennifer Laurens have somehow hit home with me. I can't go into details on why this one did or I would spoil the book. But, it has to do with Ashlyn's family. I know what it feels like to sometimes struggle with your family, and I love how Ashlyn overcomes this.

I loved so much about Ashlyn. First off her name is gorgeous! I have such a thing for unique names. Also I mentioned I love how Ashlyn is able to deal and overcome all her family struggles. One way she deals with it is through her music. She plays piano until her emotions are released in the song, and I can SO relate. I don't play piano, but listening to music is everything to me. There are songs and lyrics for everything and it helps so much.

Finally, Colin. Oh yeah... He's a sexy boy. :) Colin is the all brooding dark hair, dark eyes, strong, caring guy. He is SUCH a good guy and I'm a goner for them. Even though it's his job to protect Ashlyn, he does so much more. He cares for her, helps her, guides her, and is always there for her. I was rooting for Colin and Ashlyn till the very end.

Another aspect of the romance I adored was that Colin was 3 years older than her! Yes! Thank you for showing a relationship where the characters aren't the same age and it works! I loved it!

A couple few ending notes, I loved that there were B&N scenes, I loved the unique food, the amazing view from her house, among with other things! This book was fantastic and I highly suggest it! A definite go buy!! =D Def another favorite book. And I DEF think this book would make a FANTASTIC movie! I'll be Ashlyn! haha Just kidding ;)

Angel Burn by: L.A. Weatherly

Synopsis: Willow knows she’s different from other girls, and not just because she loves tinkering with cars. Willow has a gift. She can look into the future and know people’s dreams and hopes, their sorrows and regrets, just by touching them. She has no idea where this power comes from. But the assassin, Alex, does. Gorgeous, mysterious Alex knows more about Willow than Willow herself. He knows that her powers link to dark and dangerous forces, and that he’s one of the few humans left who can fight them. When Alex finds himself falling in love with his sworn enemy, he discovers that nothing is as it seems, least of all good and evil. In the first book in an action-packed, romantic trilogy, L..A. Weatherly sends readers on a thrill-ride of a road trip — and depicts the human race at the brink of a future as catastrophic as it is deceptively beautiful.

Thoughts: A fast-paced, action filled, fantastic whirlwind of a story. I loved this book, it had everything in it I could have asked for and more.

We start off with Willow, who believes she's just a normal girl with psychic powers. When a girl from school asks her for a reading, Willow starts to realize there is something much bigger going on and that Willow may not be who she thought she was. After realizing she is in the wrong place at the wrong time, swoon-worthy, Alex comes to her rescue and takes her away from everything she's ever known. Willow quickly finds out that Alex is an Angel Killer and was sent to kill her. Together they begin to realize that something very wrong is going on between earth and the angels, and Willow may be the key to stopping it.

Let me first start off by saying I absolutely ADORE the switching view points. The chapters constantly flip-flop between Alex's POV and Willow's POV and I LOVED that. Being able to get into both characters mind and see how each one reacts to a situation or feeling was fantastic. It was very well written.

With Angel Burn, there was never a dull moment. There is always someone around the corner hunting them, always some kind of fight, always some intense emotion, and I loved every page. Seeing the growth between Alex and Willow is another thing I loved. He is trained to kill beings like her, and yet he can't. The struggle of what's right, and what they want is constant, and I loved watching both Willow and Alex grow emotionally.

Willow, I loved her character. She is a strong girl, who leaves everything she knows behind, to accompany someone she doesn't even know, to possibly protect her family and herself. She changed everything she knows and believes in for the good of the world, and that takes an extremely strong character. Watching her, watch Alex I loved too. He's a constant battle in her head. Even though she knows she should hate him, she can't. I loved watching the love grow. It was intense and I loved it.

Alex, oh alex. I love him. Muscles, athletic, dark hair, confident, "bluish gray, like a storm at sea" eyes.... how can you not love him?! And his last name is Kylar... Alex Kylar, how gorgeous is that name?! Alex, is a trained AK (Angel Killer, and though he should hate Willow, he can't, he's too attracted to her, to in awe of everything she does and I just love that about him. Alex is definitely one of my top 5 boys.

I loved every aspect of this story, the fighting, the love, the betrayal, and the struggles. Everything just fit together so well, and I am dying to read the next one. I need to know what happens between Alex and Willow and all their up coming adventures! 5 out of 5 stars!

last minute MUSIC MONDAY ♫

Well this past tuesday, I went to a concert and it was amazing! And ever since I've been in love with one of the opening bands so here is my favorite song that they played! (I'm going to post the real version, and below an AMAZING acoustic version! -- and ohmygosh Dan is so hot rockin' his sunglasses!)

"Do your wings fit good? Can you fly?
It’s almost like you’ve been carrying me,
A little angel always watching over me.
Save me from the danger I can’t see,
So I know where I’m supposed to be.
When in the darkest place,
You’re my light, you’re my saving grace.
You’ll be an angel but you’ll always be,
Little sister. "

New Medicine - Little Sister

Thoughts?! Isn't it amazing?

I'm sorry I've been away! I've been in a semi-book slump. I just read DIVERGENT though, and it was mind blowing, and COFA is next and sure that will BLOW my heart up. So hopefully i'll be back in swing soon!

Anywho, I'm going to a Hollywood Undead & 10 Years concert next week, and i've been obsessed with this song off their new album so without further adieu...

Hollywood Undead - Coming Back Down

"I just can't escape

it's like you're here with me now

but the words you say

they always seem to fade out

since you been away

I'm just a face in the crowd

someday, someday

I know you're coming back."

Thoughts? I totes love it!! :)
