Unearthly by: Cynthia Hand

Synopsis: In the beginning, there's a boy standing in the trees . . . .

Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy.

Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side.

As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?

Unearthly is a moving tale of love and fate, and the struggle between following the rules and following your heart.

Thoughts: THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING! I loved every single second of this beautifully crafted story. CARROTS + TUCKER for life!!!! (shout out to Joanna, Alexis, and Brooke)! :)

Unearthly starts with Clara, who is an Angel-blood. She knows she's special and she knows she has a purpose to fulfill. She starts to get visions of a boy which takes her and her family to Wyoming. When she arrives, she meets the boy in her dreams, Christian, shes determined to figured out her purpose and what he has to do with it. Clara never expects the events that begin to unravel. She has new friendships, new hobbies, new dangers, and new love. When the choice comes between love and duty, which would you choose?

I loved the characters in this book. Clara is funny, down-to-earth, and a fabulous main character. The boys... oh the boys. Christian is the perfect all-american hottie it's hard not to love him. Clara's brother Jeffrey I loved as well! He had such a sense of humor, I found myself laughing out loud multiple times. I think Jeffrey is going to have a bigger role in the next book(s), at least I hope so! And last but defiantly NOT least... Tucker. Tucker is a hunk! A tan, sexy, perfect, witty, athletic ball of awesomeness. One thing that I was like "wow" that made me connect with Clara and Christian was their physical descriptions. Clara's blonde hair (wavy, tangled, golden blonde = me) and Christian's eyes (sometimes emerald, sometimes hazel = me again) I was like wow, that's freaken sweet!

I also loved the descriptions of everything. The smells and the pictures this story draws in your brain are amazing. The smell of the fire. The heat of the burning. The landscapes. The fast moving river. Smelling like Oreos :). It's defiantly a plus.

I adored this book. This was an Angel story different from many others. I have to compare it to Angelfire. Angelfire (which you all better go buy on 2/15/2011) is different from other Angel stories and it left me in awe. Unearthly is no different. The romance, the fun, and the story in Unearthly just captivates you and forces you to keep turning the pages to see what happens next. A definate "you should go buy this one"! Loved ! Can not wait for the next one!!
