"Alive or dead, the truth won't rest.
My name is Georgia Mason, and I am begging you.
Rise up while you can."

Let me first start off my saying WOW. Let me also say that this book is not for the weak-minded.

We had cured cancer. We had beat the common cold. But in doing so we created something new, something terrible that no one could stop. The infection spread, virus blocks taking over bodies and minds with one, unstoppable command: FEED.

NOW, twenty years after the Rising, Georgia and Shaun Mason are on the trail of the biggest story of their lives-the dark conspiracy behind the infected. The truth will out, even if it kills them.

Thoughts:
This book blew me out of the water. I honestly don't even know where to start. I guess we start in the year 2039 with Shaun and Georgia Mason; sibling bloggers who get the lucky shot at following around a presidential candidate. Not to mention battling hungry zombies who just want to infect you and feed on your body.

I could never live in the world they live in. I am NOT a needle person (I don't have a tattoo, and I basically cry when I have to get a shot at the doctors). Living in a world where a virus has been created, called Kellis-Amberlee, everybody is constantly tested (via needles pricking your hands) to see whether you are "infected" or not. If you are, it's bye bye or become a zombie, which the world won't allow.

The new world constantly lives in fear. Animals over 40lbs are considered dangerous, any kind of outside activity is dangerous, and you don't want to be infected so you stay away from dangerous stuff. Blogging is what the world has become. (Which BTW, I absolutely LOVED reading all the character's blog entries. They were amazing!) Georgia and Shaun are two of the best truth telling bloggers out there and they get to prove it while going on the road, which turns out to be a dangerous journey.

This book is terrifying in the sense that our world could become this. It's absolutely horrifying to think about. Mira Grant just sucks you into the action starting from page one. The book makes you angry. It makes you laugh. It haunts your dreams. It makes you think. You feel for all of these characters from page one: their fear, their anger, and their love. This book is real. It's fearful, it's amazing, and it's real.

This book will pull at all of your emotions, I promise you. I'm not a "cryer over books" type, but I was seriously close at a few scenes in this book (particularly one). I felt for these characters so much and I honestly don't know how they delt with some of the things they did. There are two more books to this series and at one chapter I was like "OMG, seriously? I won't read the next one now, wow!" But, that's not true.. it was just my emotions getting to me. If you're thinking about getting this book: do it. I believe it's worth it.

To state the opening lines of the book: "You can't kill the truth."
(Also, I would recommend this for the 16+ range)
